Recruitment agencies going increasingly digital
Evidence from the USA is that recruitment is going more and more digital with 4 out of 5 recruitment agencies viewing some kind of digital media to review candidates to short list for interview.
As yet, this has yet to take hold in the UK and some lawyers predict legal issues such as increased opportunities for discrimination. Having said that, there are some huge potential benefits to both recruitment agencies and employers.
The recruitment industry is often blamed for not operating an extensive enough filtering process. Indeed, with the economy and fuel prices as they are, more and more recruitment agencies are resorting to phone interview techniques to cut costs and speed up the process. However, this can lead to poor quality submissions and will affect client relationships accordingly. Digital media may give the opportunity to just get a clearer picture of a person prior to committing to a meeting and indeed in sales related sectors give an insight into their ability to project themselves....watch this space!
