IT recruitment agency reports salary rises in IT

The recruitment agency Re think recruitment surveyed IT directors and nearly half of them expect to have to increase IT staff ni the coming months with fewer than 15% expecting to cut It staff numbers.

The issue is that there simply aren't enough IT folk to go around.  The number so people applying to do IT degrees has fallen since 2001 by almost 50%, perhaps a response to the end of the IT boom in the 90's.  Now, ironically in an economic downturn, IT professionals are commanding better and better salaries as the skills shortages takes effect.
