Recruitment Vacancies In Bristol
Duncan Elliott from Bristol-based Rec to Rec Wave Recruitment examines the recruitment market in the South West.
Having experienced the candidate-driven market of recent years, it would be easy to assume that getting a recruitment job in the thriving south west is easy, and whilst that might be true to an extent, getting the right recruitment job is another matter entirely.
When looking at the local Recruitment industry, whether from a candidate’s or employer’s perspective, it pays to do your research. Bristol is undoubtedly the region’s capital, and with that comes the best choice of agencies and markets, all the way from niche specialist recruitment to pure high street.
When you move away from the big urban areas like Bristol, Swindon, Exeter and Cardiff, into the smaller county towns, it is a different story. Whilst there can still be a choice of roles, they are generally more likely to be industrial or commercial temp and perm roles, branch manager roles, and the occasional specialist, regional or senior role, with the latter being few and far between.
There is still however a very wide choice in a city like Bristol, and many independent agencies have sprung up in recent years, managed by ex-corporate recruiters who strive to create a business that reflects all the best practices of the corporate world, but with none of the negative aspects. Many of our clients are 10-30 people operations, working from one or two large offices, with a highly visible management team, transparent commission structure, and a clear career path which can often result in shares in the business.
The benefit of being based in our specialist geographic location means that we can both meet our candidates and visit our clients. This way we can bring jobs to life in a way that a far-away agency would struggle with. Rather than trying to be all things to all people, we decided to stick to what we know best, and that’s this local market.
